Blake and Cameron visited Kash's autobody shop one afternoon to use tools to cut out the car. Kara actually helped him paint the car a couple of days later. When it came time for the car detailing we learned a lesson: if we want to buy any decorating packets for the pinewood derby car we need to go to Michael's early. The place was cleaned out of anything to do with model cars.
THE TRACK.
Pretty high tech if you ask me. But then again, I've never really attended this event anywhere else so I have nothing to compare it to. It was fun to watch the times appear on the screen and the end of each heat.
THE AWARD.
Cameron had a great time and was a great sport even though he didn't place in the top three. Secretly most parents don't want their kids to win because they don't want to spend an entire Saturday at the district races. This being our first year, we were coached by another seasoned parent, i.e. Brother Gummersall, on how to make a car fast so it's fun, but NOT TOO FAST!
